1st (official) blog.
What is VegHui?
I am Hui. I am veg. Thus, I conceived of VegHui, "vej-hway"; it is a sort of pun. š Welcome to the site of the VegHui.
Alternatively, the Chinese character for my name Hui is ę § . (meaning: intelligent). It is a good decision to be here. But you donāt have to be a genius to be vegan.
I do love me some deep, multiple-meanings, though.
I want to be a content creator sharing my original ideas and a re-blogger, so you shall see my inspirations, and how I interpret them. On this site, youāll find recipes, reviews, thoughts and bits of my life.
What kind of food do I make?
Firstly, vegan=no animal products. Hopefully, organic and veganic (no animal inputs in growing crops) when possible. Because that does less harm, too.
Secondly, I like to say what I make is Asian fusion. Because I am influenced by my Chinese family, and I live in California. (And more, which I will blog about later.)
Iām going to write recipes of special foods I am served at home. I love discovering veganized versions of all types of ethnic cuisines.
Third, healthy, although not all health-foods (besides, a lot of that is co-opted). I try to regularly eat wholesome, colorful meals, real fruits and veggies, etc. and cook with minimal to no oil, sugar, soy sauce, salt/sodium. Being HCLF (high carb low fat) for me does feel good, but I donāt strictly stick to that. I live to eat more than I eat to live. š
Fourth, I am a young person and Iām still learning how to cook, so I keep things simple. Iāve had my fair share of burnt things and Iām trying to chronicle better outcomes, and would rather undercooked than over! Appliances and tools are pretty basic, for now. Who doesnāt like easy recipes anyway?
Finally, (a sub point), I am a student and I like to save money. Admittedly, Iām sometimes lazy but thatās also a motive of keeping a record, so I donāt get too lazy. Thus, I am proving vegan food is mostly inexpensive and accessible.
I plan to also share about other aspects of my veganism (not food) since I tend to like eco, natural living as well.
This is just a beginning. Maybe I will have a slogan, and logo later. Perhaps I will move on to another (more complex) site later on. I know with more culinary experience, I improve. (Will blog with notes on mistakes/trial-and-error.) In the future, there could be some type of book and/or business, who knows? Currently, Iām just an amateur person.
If you strongly relate, please reach out.
Happy new year š
Peace,
Jia Hui L.
P.S. My favorite colors are purple: royal, lavender, indigo. That explains the color scheme, and how it is not the typical blue-green-yellow tones.
